The mission of WhiteMoon Dreams is simple: Build inspiring interactive entertainment, powered by our passion for excellence. We are an independent game studio that’s worked hard to build a reputation that allows us to foster the best relationships to make games that matter.

Our History

The story of WhiteMoon Dreams begins at a kitchen table in 2007. Around this table are industry veterans who have decided to take the leap from their larger, corporate studios and chart their own course. The dream is to establish an independent studio, operating from a place of passion above all else. It’s only directive is to make fun, creative and beautiful games – and to do right by the players it serves. No politics, no overlords, just magic.

So, a studio was born and games were made. The core team would come to involve key players from successful franchises like: Fallout, Ratchet and Clank, Medal of Honor and MLB The Show to name a few. Our work over the years has certainly been diverse, but the one thing that bonds our projects across the board is our love for working with cutting edge technology. WhiteMoon Dreams shipped one of the first titles ever to be built in Unreal Engine 4, we developed a 6 degrees of freedom VR shooter for Sony’s PSVR and we’re currently pushing the envelope on Location Based VR experiences. The truth is, we love a good challenge. What might scare others excites us. Also, we’re nerds, so this kind of stuff is our idea of fun.

Our Key Dreamers

Jay Koottarappallil

CEO, Co-Founder

Since its founding, Jay has led WhiteMoon Dreams as its CEO, operating both in management and as a day to day game developer. Having worked previously as an art, technical and development director for companies such as Looking Glass, EA and Insomniac Games, among others, Jay boasts over 24 years of experience in the game industry and has also previously built and sold a visual effects studio.

Scott Campbell

Creative Director, Co-Founder

As co-founder of WhiteMoon Dreams, Scott has enjoyed acting as its creative director since its inception. Having started his career with Interplay in 1990 where he was Lead Concept Designer for Fallout, he has led creative efforts at several prominent studios and publishers, including Sony.

Christian Phillips

President, Managing Partner

Christian led product development at Sony’s San Diego studio for 8 years. Before that, he worked in business development and product acquisition for Microsoft and Nintendo. With more than 26 years of experience, Christian is proud to be part of the WhiteMoon Dreams team.

Grant Viklund

Chief Product Innovation Officer CPIO, Head of Whitemoon Labs

Grant is the Chief Creative & Head of WhiteMoon Labs. A 20+ year veteran artist, entrepreneur, and technologist of the movie industry, his earlier notable roles are in visual effects at James Cameron’s former studio, Digital Domain and then as a Senior Technical Director at Dreamworks Animation.
